-----Coloring zinc plated sheet steel
I am a metal artist working with a sheet metal roofing product called "Ternemetal" manufactured by Follansbee Steel in WV. It is steel coated with zinc & tin. It was formerly steel coated with lead & tin which reacted nicely to liquid patinas brushed or rubbed on. Now that the product contains zinc it is very resistant to coloring. Are there liquids that will color zinc without hot dipping or electroplating but simply by brushing onto the surface. Brushing is preferred because it is more controllable in the type of work that I do.
