BLACK ANODIZED PROBLEM

I HAVE A SET OF BLACK ANODIZED TRUCK BEDRAILS THAT ARE TURNING PURPLE IN COLOR,WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM?

Could be numerous things...poor sealing of the coating would be the #1 suspect. Inadequate coating thickness.... using a dye with poor lightfastness. Its almost impossible to tell without physically testing the rails.

Is there a smut that rubs off when parts are dry? If so cut your anodize time by 15 min your parts may be burning in the anodize tank. This is also common on 2000 series substrates.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
