Paint/sealer adherence to "non-metallic" gas tank

I have an early 80's Rokon 2x2 motorcycle with a "non-metallic" gas tank. I say "non-metallic" because I don't know if it is poly or nylon or what. Perhaps someone out there does. I would like to paint it but have had no luck so far getting anything to adhere long term. I've read the archives but wonder if anything new has come up that allows one to paint a surface like this.

Hi R.B.

Go to the archives and look at # 7673, 10814 and especially 14173.

I'd assume your tank is made from PP ... PP or Polypropylene is a 'sister' to Pe, Polyethylene ... and both don't take kindly to painting.
