-----Water treatment coupon preparation
I am a technical sales person in water treatment. I am desirous to know if there is any standard or supporting write up which suggests that metal corrosion coupons which are used to evaluate corrosion protection performance of cooling water treatments should be passivated to avoid the initial "flash corrosion" which may mislead the result. As I understand leading water treatment chemical companies are using passivated coupons for evaluating their treatment program performance.

On my understanding, coupons (MS, CU or SS) should not be passivated before application in the water treatment system. Using of passivated coupons may give misleading figures in terms of corrosion units - MPY.
