Gaseous vs. Salt Bath Nitrocarburizing

Q. Is there a significant difference between salt bath nitrocarburizing and gaseous nitrocarburizing in terms of the resulting finish, both in abrasion and corrosion resistance?

Thank You.

Q. I also work in accessory technique and I would like to receive information on salt bath nitrocarburizing versus gaseous nitrocarburizing.

Best Regards

A. Greetings, Benge and Emanoel Ribeiro de Almeida: Suggest you see ASM Metals Handbook Vol. 4 'Heat Treating' [affil link on Amazon]. There are numerous end-notes at the end of the chapters.

Also, you should contact, Mr. Dale Poteet, the godfather of nitrocarburizing or Kolene. Good Luck Gentlemen, Sam.

Sincerely yours.
