Coloring of aluminum beyond paint/anodize

Can anyone suggest a process other than painting or anodizing that could be used to turn 6061-T6 aluminum black? I work at an optics company that needs to have its parts meet certain shock specifications, and when in use, the shocks the pieces receive cause chips of paint or anodize to be dislodged, obscuring the optics. We need a black interior to eliminate glare. Any suggestions?

First of two simultaneous responses --

There is a new spark anodizing process for aluminum with integral black color called Kepla-Coat(R). It has very good optical properties.

Why not powdercoat?
