Acid resistancy of PP

Up to what concentration and Temperature of sulfuric acid, Polypropylene,or PP-LTHA grade can work. Application is for tower packings for SO3 absorption in sulfuric acid plant. will these materials last longer.

Hi Prashant,

Without checking my corrosion resistance data, I'd think that PP is good to very good for the sulfuric side but I might well be concerned about S02.

For heaven's sake, you surely must have corrosion resistance charts. Your packing supplier could provide them but check SIMONA or the internet on S02 re PP.

You ask 'will these materials last longer?' .... longer than WHAT? What material are you using for the (absorption) towers themselves?

Lastly, please ensure you have a GOOD mist eliminator design. Mesh is superlative BUT plugs up and if your process airflow increases, then mesh would normally become useless. Use a blade design, please!
