Corrosion appears on SS303 after nickel plating
We are plating components mad out of Stainless steel 303 grade. After nickel plating we find the corrosive marks on the components. We plate gold over Nickel. We tried Electroless nickel also , but no use. Can any body suggest a good cleaning method / plating to overcome this issue.
Thanks and regards,

Shanmugan,
The corrosion after nickel plating is more often from dirty rinses after nickel plating and a bad drying. How much nickel thickness did you have on the part? If you use a EN solution the corrosion resistant will be lower if you use hydrochloric acid in the pretreatment step. All pretreatments steps must follow wiht clean rinses to get the best corrosion protection.
