Electroplating Testing Standards

2002

Hi,

We want to know testing procedures or STD. available to test electroplating quality after electroplating has been done on any metal surface.

Kindly Feedback ASAP.

Thanks & regards,

Thakur Sandeep

First of two simultaneous responses

Mr. Sandeep, I think you need to hire a local plating consultant. There are hundreds of tests of plating quality, from salt spray tests and a dozen variations on them, to abrasion tests, hardness tests, thickness tests, porosity tests, ductility tests, adhesion tests, and on and on.

Second of two simultaneous responses

First off, you should be plating to a specification. They have a QC section. Second, did you stop to consider the number of metals that are electroplated? Quality checks for platinum plate are vastly different than iron plate. Further, the checks for cosmetic gold are a lot different than functional or industrial gold plate.

Your question is like asking how to fix engines, much too wide. James Watts
