-----Heat treating scale prevention/removal methods for selective areas
Q. Is there any type of coating that can be selectively applied (prior to heat treatment), to specific areas that would prevent or minimize the resulting scale formation following solution annealing? Assemblies are sheet materials (.006"-.186"). During the course of manufacturing we are required to solution anneal stainless steel (300 series primarily), and various nickel alloys. Subsequently these sheet metal components are welded to other materials, mechanical removal is quite slow and costly.
