Pickling of galvanized sheet

I have some galvanized sheet where the zinc coating is not uniform. I would like to know if the zinc coating can be removed by pickling the sheet using HCl acid? Will anything happen to the HCl acid? Is there any other method of removing the zinc coating?

Dear Mr. Philip Jacob,

You desire to remove the Zinc coating which you feel is unsatisfactory. What do you want to do after removing the zinc coating. If you ultimately want to paint the galvanized sheet, there are simple methods of applying a zinc phosphate on the surface, by brushing - and- wipe method. The surface may then be painted - liquid paint or powder coating.
