Hot Black Oxide on AISI H10 (5% chrome) material

(1998)

I would be grateful for any advise on how to achieve a good deep lustre Black on AISI H10 material (5% chrome) that has been heat treated to 45-46 Hrc.

I am currently using a hot blacking line utilising salts at 150 deg C but the results are poor.

The pre cleaning includes a light sand blast followed by an alkali degrease. All of my other materials AISI 4340 black sucsessfully.

Regards,

Des Burnett
