-----Suitability of mechanical zinc with sems screws
My current product design requires an M5 sems screw with conical spring washer and flat washer. Property class of the screw will be 8.8. To avoid hydrogen embrittlement concerns, mechanical zinc plating appears to be a viable option to electroplated zinc. But can the mechanical zinc process reach into the tight spaces between the attached washers? What is the specification callout to enable the screw and washer assembly to pass a 96 hour salt spray test?
