Stripping copper
What base metal and/or chemicals are required to strip away a layer of sputtered copper? Is a pretreatment required?
Melissa Burnett

Melissa:
What you can use depends on the substrate that the copper is on; and what effect, if any, that you can tolerate on that base material.
Nitric acid and other mineral acids will remove copper, with possible serious effects on the substrate. These materials are hazardous to use, of course.
You can use persulphate based materials easier and safer. You can contact us for product information, or go to FMC.
