Matte black metal finishing; White gold + rhodium

Hi,

I would like to create a matte black ring (jewelry). Having talked to several jewelers who all suggested titanium, which I consider to be gray. I finally spoke to one of Sweden's finest jewelers who told me there is a process using white gold with rhodium, heating the ring thereby creating the effect of matte black finish. I wonder

1. Will the finish really be matte black?
2. Would you be able to provide me with a photo or indicate a source for pictures of results of mentioned process?
3. Are there alternative processes?
