Risk in passivating cres 416

Hello,

I heard of a potential risk in passivating cres 416. Is it true? What is the reason for that? Do you recommend not performing passivation on parts made from cres 416?

Thank you!

There is a real risk if you plan to use the normal nitric based passivations. Use a citric acid based product designed for 416 and it will work well and you should have extremely close to zero risk.

I'd also recommend that you check out Ted's fine FAQ on the subject of passivation.

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
