Metal Finishing Question From Non-Professional

Is there a way to turn a zinc screw to a black one with an acid. I am not familiar at all with any process but I'm in need of a simple solution if there is one. Any help would be appreciated.

The answer to your question is "not really for the non professional". Why don't you just paint the screws or buy blackened screws? If they are wood screws, I believe that black screws are available from Woodworkers Supply.
