Black passivation process

Dear Members,

We are a fibre company. We have an order for army belts. For army belt buckles we are electroplating zinc for corrosion resistance and we need to passivate black chromating on the pieces with glossy finish., so I will be thankful to know black passivating process.

Best regards,

Mohammed Asad

Black passivations for zinc are normally proprietary processes. Based on past experience, in an application with a similar amount of high wear/rubbing, it has been my experience that a paint is desirable after the passivate. You could also look into nickel plating with black chromium as a means to get a more wear resistant black finish.
