Protecting the polished look on magnesium auto parts

I have a number of magnesium auto parts that have been polished, and I am trying to find a way to keep them that way. I am concerned about lacquer coat as I'm not sure how durable it is. I would like to have them chrome plated, but I don't know where to go for magnesium. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
