How can I strip a Co-Cr coating from an AISI 316 substrate?

"... just a little help from my friends!"

Does anybody know a chemical/electrochemical way (no mechanical operations are feasible) to strip a very thin Co-Cr alloy coating from a SS substrate (AISI 316 L)? Obviously without affecting/damaging the smooth surface of the substrate! The coating is a sort of Stellite (something like Stellite 25) and its thickness is less than 1 micron.

Thanks in advance,
