Electroless nickel plating on how to improve the surface roughness

I am an undergraduate student. I am currently doing a project on development of electroless nickel coating on ceramics substrate. I have successfully plated the nickel coating using my own formulation of coating solution. The surface roughness of the nickel coating is about 0.2 miron meter measured by surface profiler. I would like to know is there any method to improve the surface roughness from micron meter to nanometer.
