Q. Dear friends,

I am a paint technologist and I am interested to know the detail technology of electrocoating for my personal interest. The information like what actually happens during electrocoating, what are the processes involved, how to control the quality of electrocoating, what are general problems and how to solve them.

A. Hello Mangesh!

Metal Finishing Magazine has a superb collection of articles online, under the Organic Finishing Guidebook button on their homepage, www.metalfinishing.com. They are certainly a fine place to start. Following that, I'd suggest you check out Ted's recommended books for yet more information. Good luck, and happy reading!

A. Hi Mangesh and readers. Unfortunately, Elsevier shut down Metal Finishing magazine, their Guidebook, and their website at the end of 2013, so Lee's link no longer works.

You can search the site for lots of interesting and informative threads about electrocoating ... but admittedly it can be difficult to learn a subject by bouncing around between threads which are too basic and repetitive for you, and threads which require background you haven't yet acquired :-)

The nice thing about books is that the author spends months or years addressing that problem, presenting the subject in tutorial fashion for quickest comprehension -- and there are at least a few good ones on the subject -->

Luck & Regards,
