Wear and hardness of chromium coatings
We try to determine the characteristics of mild and severe wear of different chromium coatings in dry friction conditions with using pin-side-on test.One of the main problem is obtaining the dependence between wear and hardness.By changing of bath compositions and methods of coatings preparation (including thermal-hardened chromium plating) we investigate a coating with hardness from 300 HV to 1800 HV. It is very interesting for us to compare our results with results obtained by another investigators or by other methods.

Sorry, 'pin-side-on' is a term with which I am not familiar. The Taber abrasion test is commonly used for wear testing.

We use a crossed-cylinder wear machine (pin-side-on test) to investigate adhesive wear (severe wear) and oxidative wear (mild wear) in different wear conditions (load, velocity), because in many cases a wear resistance of coated parts depends on this type of wear.
Really, Taber abrasion test is most representative test in USA, and we want to compare our results with results obtained by this or another tests.Iskander IDRISSOV
