Discoloration in gold plating

I am working in reed switch plating. In reed switch plating , gold plated first and then rhodium is plated over the gold plated area(1/4th of the gold plated area). I noticed some yellow colour spots in gold plated area. This occurs only after rhodium plating(sulphate bath) ,especially the spots occur during rhodium plating. Whether the vapors or gases evolved in rhodium plating might attack the gold plated area. Can any one say what might be reason for the above problem.
