Masking for powder coating

When it comes to masking of powder coating, are there any clever ways to prevent powder from entering a window of a brass shell without getting the powder on the inside? I have tried using a teflon plug to mask the window but the powder cures and bridges across both.

A trick that I regularly use is a piece of paper. Simply curl up the paper and push it into the hole. The paper will then open slightly on it's own to fill in the hole and protect it. This method works very well on most these type problems. Larger diameter holes require cardboard type thickness.
