"Steel wool electroplating"

-----

I am doing a school project on electroplating and need information on the best substance to coat steel wool with so it doesn't rust and is still usable. If anyone has any suggestions they would be very useful.

THANX,

I don't think it's going to work. The metal you try to electroplate onto it will cover the exterior surface of the 0000 steel wool [affil link] pad, but not the innards (much like if you tried to spray paint it). Further, most platings will be too brittle and will flake off as the pad flexes.

However, you probably can coat it with copper by simple immersion in Copper Sulfate [affil link].
