Specification for bright dip



 

Is there a commercial or mil spec covering bright dipping?

Sir,

I presume that the bright dipping is meant for zinc or cadmium plated parts. Generally 0.25 to 0.5%v/v HNO3solution is used and the immersion time is about 10 to 20 seconds. This process precedes yellow chromate passivation(Cr+6) and other types of passivation like olive green and black.
