MEK BONDING OF ABS

I NEED TO KNOW THE DETAILED PROCESS FOR SOLVENT BONDING ABS PARTS TOGETHER USING MEK / methyl ethyl ketone

HARRY USSERY
- GREENVILLE, South Carolina

Harry,

Hadst thou but given more info, then maybe once could be more helpful. Just WHAT parts are you a-gluing?

ABS and it's good cement, MEK is about the O N L Y plastic in the world that one can ADD on strength, that one can even butt join successfully the so-called Mineline pipe series to 12" dia ... butt join via a given 'technique' but using MEK and not welding ... and yet producing successful pressure rated fittings.

... I used to have an ABS briefcase and the corners got damaged. Ah. Notta problem. A few coatings of a heavier then normal ABS cement gap filled to perfection.

Why don't you ask WELD-ON who make all types of thermoplastic cements for details.

Happy gluing!
