-----Replacement Coating for Chromate Conversion
2001
I need a replacement coating for: (Iridite) Chromate Conversion over Aluminum. Any type of Resin paint is not an option.
Substance needs to be:
1. Self-contained, batch, spray.
2. Re-cycled chemicals with no requirements for waste treatment and disposal into sanitary sewer system.

There are protective systems that do not include chrome and are relatively benign environmentally. Also, several suppliers now offer mil-approved trivalent "TCP" coatings.
However, I'm not sure that you will find anything that actually requires no treatment; and, even if you do, that may not free you of the need for treatment and permits since the wastes from metal processing tend to be categorically regulated (meaning they are considered hazardous due to their source--metal finishing--regardless of their actual contents).
Usually, the best way to free yourself from the need to treat and report waste products is to farm out your finishing :-)
