We are looking for depositing silicon semimetal (with silica as minimum as possible) powders onto a surface of a component made from a porous carbon fibre preform of a given shape (disc for instance). Since the preform contains a certain volume percentage of porosity, penetration of the coating materials into the preform maze as they are laid down is OK.
- The finished coating's adhesion, thickness, surface roughness, and porosity are not important;
- The required quantity of the coating is the mass of the silicon per unit (norminal) area of surface of the preform to be treated, plus,
- The end coating needs to be silicon (not to be oxidised).
Any coating routes, esp those solid- and solution-based, will be considered. In this respect, any suggestions, comments, or possible help with the realisation of such coatings, will be highly appreciated.Hong-Wei Wang
