Ball and Socket Joint Interaction

I would like to know if anyone has done any work on ball and socket joints and the surface interaction between them. I am working w/an automotive company. We produce Aluminium and Zinc die cast "balls" as well as a variety of moulded plastic sockets (ABS, GF NYLON, PP, Acetal, POM PC/ABS, Talc filled PP and many more). I would like to be able to predict the forces that occur between both entities.
