The Safety of Copper Sulfate and Humans

Is copper sulfate [linked by editor to product info at Amazon] safe to use in swimming pools?

Juanita Ferguson
- Smiths Falls, Ontario

Hello Juanita!

It all depends on what you're going to do with the copper sulfate, and how you're going to get rid of it. If you're going to pour it into the pool water to kill algae, I wouldn't do that and then swim in the water. Check out www.ilpi.com/msds/#What which has some sites that give out Material Safety Data Sheets, and further explains what they are.

Good luck!
