Brake Caliper and Piston Plating

1998

Does anyone have knowledge on the type of plating generally used on automotive caliper pistons. Some have told me its a chrome finish but others have said its Cad.

Thank you in advance!

Tom

I thought it was Electroless Nickel.

Depends on the make and era of your car. I know that GM power brake "boosters" were "gold cadmium dichromate". This is also used on the brake backing plates of some GM cars. I am looking for a supplier to do this as well. Many car brackets are also done in the g-c-d process. Car judges will accept black or natural finish metal for the calipers on 60's GM cars

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
