Plating nuts, bolts and small parts of BMW Isetta 300 Bubble Car
Q. What do I need to get started in plating some small car bits (Nuts/bolts etc) at home? I have seen kits advertised for this purpose but most seem quite expensive (in the UK) is there any simple way I can get started?
I already have sand blasting equipment so getting down to bare metal is no problem. The car by the way is a 1958 BMW Isetta 300 (Bubble car)
Thanking You in anticipation.

A. Hello Steve. We have an Introduction to Chrome Plating on line here, which should give you a good start towards understanding what is involved. You might also look for a copy of the Metal Finishing Guidebook, as it covers all aspects of plating in pretty good depth, and it should be reasonably inexpensive since thousands of copies are printed every year. Good luck with it!
