Agitation equipment wanted for passivating washers(1998)
We are having problems outsourcing passivation of 301 stainless steel and are looking for equipment to provide to our metal treater to agitate flat 1.378"OD x .015"thick 301ss washers. They tend to get sandwiched together when passivating 3000 at a time and many parts are not passivated satisfactorily. Is there any equipment available to agitate parts to help uniform passivation of these parts?Gayle S [last name deleted for privacy by Editor]
We have been passivating stainless steel for many years and would advise not waiting too long for an answer to your inquiry!
The diameter of the washer at.015 thick create too much vacuum to be separated with a rinsing method. The force of the agitation system needed would bend the washers and probably make them dysfunctional.
Look for a racking system that would keep the parts separated like the phonograph records did on the on the juke box! If passivation all over is neededJoe Hillock
