How to do Electropolishing

(1996)

I want to see more information on electropolishing.

Miguel Flesia
- Argentina

Like many aspects of electroplating, electropolishing has trade secrets, i.e., information not covered in a patent, but closely held by the polisher. This particular finishing business may have more secrets than most.

Most finishers, like me, have done only the simplest electropolishing, and have never gotten into the bigger, more demanding, work. Electropolishing connector shells prior to plating is a far cry from polishing the interior of large, stainless steel vessels.

What is the particular application of electropolishing in which you are interested? See the chapter on this subject in Durney's Electroplating Engineering Handbook.

p.s. Electropolishers: please give us the name of your favorite reference book.
