MacDermid Antimicrobial Solutions

MacDermid Antimicrobial Solutions offer the latest in antimicrobial technology for a variety of plating applications. The unique properties of our antimicrobial agent provide extended protection against the formation and growth of microorganisms without the use of harmful phenol compounds. This new line of antimicrobial products offers highly effective, broad spectrum protection against the following organisms:
  • Enteric (E. coli)
  • Pseudomonas (Pseudomonas aeruginosa)
  • Staphylococcus (Staphylococcus aureus)
  • Yeast (Candida albicans)
  • Mold (Aspergillus niger)
MacDermid is pleased to offer three options for antimicrobial protection including Aqualac AM, Metex AF Additive, and Metex AM Rinse Aid.

Aqualac AM represents the latest in lacquer technology for decorative applications. In addition to its antibacterial characteristics, Aqualac AM acts as a humectant and skin-conditioning agent that lends moisturization, emollience and wetting properties. This product also contains a UV tracer for ease of detection. Aqualac AM is an ideal fit for wire goods, consumer products and interior automotive applications.

Metex AF Additive was developed to prevent bacterial and fungal growth in rinse waters and in rinsing equipment. It combines an antifungal agent and antimicrobial agent to carry out these functions. Metex AF Additive can be utilized in both stagnant and flowing rinses and can be analyzed for ease of process control.

Metex AM Rinse Aid is best suited for applications where antimicrobial properties are desired on finished parts without the use of a lacquer. The antimicrobial agent is incorporated into the final rinse with another product that allows it to adhere to finished parts. This allows an antimicrobial coating to be applied in decorative, functional and engineering applications. Like the Aqualac AM, this product also contains a UV tracer for ease of detection.
