-----Gas or Infrared?
2001
As you will soon be able to tell by my question, I am new to the powder coat industry. I am going to build a batch type oven. I have access to both gas fired units and infrared. The product that we are running is low volume and the dimensions are 7'X 7'X 3".
I think that we will probably only fire this oven once a week. Which is why I am leaning towards a gas fired batch type. Is it possible to use infrared in a batch type application?
Any help that any one could offer would be greatly appreciated.

It depends largely on the type of parts that you are coating. If they are very three dimensional, several angles and pockets, then the IR is likely not going to work. The IR will only cure in a "line of sight" manner. On the other hand if they will be flat panels the IR will likely be more cost effective and easier to install.
