-----Seeking protective coatings for polypropylene tanks
I am in need of a protective coating that that will prevent gold from immersion plating the walls of a polypropylene tank.
Thanks

I find it hard to believe that gold is plating by immersion on a polypropylene surface. Are you operating an electrolytic gold bath, an electroless gold bath, or a gold bath designed for immersion plating?

Terry, As Ted said, you have to describe your process more accurately. I know zilch about plating, but a little bit about plastics and there sure ain't no coating in this world to do what you want.
PP like Pe has a surface that does not lend itself to things 'adhering' or plating to. If you want to be exotic, go and get a tank made from Halar, Tefzel or TFE which would cost you an arm and a leg. Maybe your process could cause gold to 'deposit' even on these fluorocarbons.
Anyhow, your tank material sounds OK. 'tis something else that stinks in the State of Denmark, eh?

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
