Problem with separation of paint on parts

I am painting parts that are plated with a black plated finish and parts that are gold plated. When shooting the parts we are getting separation of the paint, but not on all of the parts that we are painting. We are very careful in the preparation of the parts before painting, taking great care to clean them well. Is there anybody that has experienced this problem or one of a similar nature , or anyone who might have a suggestion. Thanks -

Adhesion of paint over plating can be a little tricky.

If you're cleaning the parts well before paint, you're probably having trouble with the paint you're using not having enough chemical adhesion to the part. Physical adhesion is when the paint wraps around surface features of the part, on a microscopic scale. Chemical adhesion is the chemical bond formed between the paint and the part itself. With not much surface area, as with a plated part, you're not going to get much physical adhesion. There are products on the market that will promote better adhesion chemically, several companies have such products, and they can effectively solve your problem.

Hope this helps,
