-----Hexavalent Chromium Present in Clear Chromate Coatings
Does anyone have any information concerning even the approximate amount of hexavalent chromium and total chromium present in a clear chromate coating? Preferably, when the coating is formed by modifying the gold chromate process but we'd also be interested in the concentration of chromium (especially hexavalent)in solutions designed to produce clear chromate coatings. Even a formula for typical coating thicknesses would be helpful.
Are there any test methods recommended to determine the concentration of hexavalent chromium in clear chromate coatings?

Typically a clear to blue chromate should contain between 5 to 15 mg/ Sq mtr.
A bleached coating may contain up to 50 mg /Sq mtr.
