-----Plating Aluminium onto Copper
2000
Hi,
I am a student at university os sheffield. I wish to put a 20 micron thick coating of aluminium on copper which can thereafter be anodized. cryolite cannot be used as the operating temperatures are too high. any electrolyte that can be used in aqueous medium at moderate temperatures would be highly suitable. will aluminium hydroxide work? also details about the operating voltage and current density would be high desirable. thanks in anticipation

You cannot plate Aluminium on anything. If you could have purifying Aluminium would be much cheaper. In order to purify Aluminium by electrolysis it is dissolved in molten cryolite at over 1000 deg C .
