PRODUCTION ABS Chrome Plate Source Requested

I need some help in finding a production chrome plater for plastic parts.

I work for a large corporation in Minnesota and have been challenged to plate the front of an oval shaped ABS part roughly 1" x 3". Volumes are in the 500k/year range.

I have quotes and samples at 18 cents/part, but that is too much $$ for this small component. This is out of my area of experience and I am looking for potential economical sources for this work.

Should I be looking outside of the US? Samples are available.

On small, low priced items like yours, the labor required for plating takes most of the cost; materials and equipment are only a fraction. Thus, if you are definitely in the need of lowering those $0.18 US, your best move will be to look into a low labor cost country. I live in Northeast Mexico (Monterrey) where labor is less than $6.00 US per day and I know that there are at least two platers in town that could do your parts for about half that.
