Need recommendation for corrosion resistant plating for steel

Q. Hello

I am looking for a plating specification for corrosion resistance of mild steel parts.

This is an industrial application with continuous, long term outdoor exposure, non-cosmetic, thickness less than .0005" , cost effective and readily available in California

Thanks in advance for your help!

A. Hi Cliff.

A zinc alloy plating like zinc-nickel would probably be your best bet. Electroless nickel is also a possibility. "Long term" is relative, but there is no plating of .0005" that will give you the outdoors lifespan of a heavy hot dip galvanized coating.
