Setting up a Hardcoat Line

RFQ. Hi, I am a manufacturer here in Australia and have a need for Hardcoat Annodizing. I have read a lot on the subject and have a fair idea many of the aspects. The problem I have is getting it done in this part of the world, including the East where I have some parts made. I have not been able to come close to getting a good consistent product coated. Australia is no longer a manufacturer and the "East" speaks for its self :( I am considering setting up my own line. Its only for small parts and a 10 gallon system would handle what we need. I also very much want to do Teflon Sealing as this adds a wonderful luster to the finished item. I am more than willing to pay for expert advice, how would I go about this? I am an electronics guy so the Power supply is covered, and my best friend make refrigeration chillers so the expensive items are covered, just need specs.

A. Hi, Geoff.

I would buy or borrow a good book or two on the subject, like Robert Probert's "Aluminum How-To" or Wernick, Pinner, & Sheasby's "The Surface Treatment and Finishing of Aluminum and its Alloys".

The "teflon sealing" is a proprietary; you don't have to develop it, you can just buy it.

I would also contact an aluminum finishing consultant, perhaps from finishing.com's "Directory of Consultants". Good luck.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
