Letter 5885 TiN coating. I'm looking for information on coating high speed steel cutting tools with titanium nitrite, commonly called TiN coating. Any information would be appreciated charles oder
. Just for the record (by that I mean that our 5000+ letters become a record in search engines) I believe you mean titanium nitride coatings. This way, a search of nitride will bring up this letter, and improve the chances of getting an answer. Tom Pullizzi
. Can you give more details of your questions ? ie. do you require performance/applictions data Operational information Are you looking to purchase?
. Hi there, we use TiN coating for our high speed cutting tools, this is effective in increasing the life of tools such as these and we have been using this method for a long time, but at the minute we are thinking about getting our tools treated cryogenically as some very good work has been done in this area just recently ,yielding results of an increase in tool life 300+ % in many cases. Even better when you use both TiN coating and then get tools cryogenically treated after. You might think this sounds expensive, but it actually is a very good cost reduction, when you think, longer tool life, less downtime, and replacement of the tools is much more expensive. Hope this helps, Lisa Lisa Vance
