-----Seeking a method to extract metals from alkaline batteries
May 3, 2011
My name is Xiangwei, a student in Grade 11 from Singapore. I am currently investigating on the possible methods to extract useful metals from alkaline batteries. My methodology starts with the dissolving of the batteries into sulfuric acid. A aqueous mixture containing different metal ions including Zn, Mn and Fe is formed. Is there a possibility to use sodium hydroxide or any other hydroxides to extract specific metals by varying the pH values of the mixture?
I am very appreciated for the reply.
Thank You
