Are there coupons available for purchase that show the range of acceptable conditions when performing visual inspection of Chromate conversion coated aluminum parts per Mil-DTL-5541 [link is to spec at TechStreet]?

Hi, J. If they are available someone else will have to tell you about them because I have never seen them. I imagine that both the buyer and the plating shop would have to sign off that the coupons properly represent their understanding of Mil-DTL-5541, but it sounds like a good idea.

In fact, this sounds like a good idea for a thousand different finishes, since we have questions about "aesthetic standards" here every week. Even in the worst of times there are ways for entrepreneurs to start a whole new market -- I'm looking forward to hearing about these coupons soon :-)
