Removal of Alumina Inclusion from SS316L Electropolished Surface

January 5, 2010

Hello,

We are doing electropolishing of SS316L material. We are using H3PO4+H2SO4+H2O bath to electropolish SS316L. Recently, we are getting pits on the surface after electropolsihing which was believed to be of Alumina inclusion after EDAX analysis.

Can anyone provide me the solution to remove alumina inclusion from the surface? Is there any pre-treatment or special technique is available which can combine with electropolishing process to remove such inclusions?

Regards.
