Chrome plating of plastics

September 4, 2009

Hi all,
I have one question related to chrome plating of plastics?
I want to know what are the precautions one need to take care while molding plastic parts which is going for chrome plating? One point I think is residual stresses that goes along with molding...What else?

I am a moldflow analyst and next week I'll be doing analysis of such project.

Thanks is advance..

Hi, Nitin. That is a good point, but there is more to it than that. If there is anyway possible, try to get access to the hard-to-find book "Standards and Guidelines for Electroplated Plastics". It has whole chapters on your subject.
